Screen Cylinders and Screen Hoses for Centrifugal Sifters

The centrifugal sifter or cyclone screener is a very special screening device that due to its engineering concept, has been reliably performing tasks in the bulk goods industry for many decades, while remaining almost unchanged in design. This compact screening machine with cyclone technology is mainly used in the removal of unwanted substances from food and pharmaceutical products as well as in the chemical and plastics industries.
The typical area of application for a centrifugal sifter is control or protective screening along the manufacturing process, for removal of e.g. caking, fibres, scraps of paper, lumps, wood chips or small stones from the product.
The heart of a centrifugal sifter is the interchangeable screen cylinder or screen hose, made of monofilament synthetic fabrics, usually polyamide (PA) or polyester (PET). But it is also available in stainless steel mesh or perforated metal sheet.
We at Bückmann can draw on decades of experience in the manufacturing of screen cylinders and hoses and work closely with OEMs as well as directly with the operators of centrifugal screeners. Therefore, screen hoses made of both synthetic fabric and metal can be obtained from us.
We are of course aware that there are often small differences between various centrifugal sifters. Therefore, we manufacture each screening cylinder according to customer specifications, starting from one unit. On request, call-off orders can be agreed so that an immediate delivery after ordering is guaranteed.
Whereas in the past, synthetic screening cylinders were usually sewn, today joining through high-frequency welding processes is the standard for the food and hygiene industry. In this way, a long service life of the screen tube is achieved while maintaining foodstuff compliance.
The Right Screen Cylinder for Every Application:
- Synthetic food version: With high-frequency welded seam (materials suitable according to EU 10/2011)
- Stainless steel food version: Welded from magnetisable stainless steel (e.g. AISI 430)
- Robust industrial design made of synthetic fabric or stainless steel
- EX-Version: Sewn with antistatic screen fabric
Beside the standard, normal screening of dry bulk goods, further special areas in fractionation and separation have been developed with the help of the centrifugal sifter, most notably wet screening and ultrasonic screening. The common feature of both methods is that screening cylinders with fine mesh sizes are used in particular. In wet screening, these screening cylinders are mostly made of synthetic fabric; in contrast, metal is used in ultrasonic screening. Some of these niche solutions offer excellent results that are difficult to attain with other types of screening machines.
The screening cylinders used here are relatively sensitive to handling and production methods due to the thin wires and threads used. One solution, depending on the process parameters, can be the production of screen cylinders with additional supporting fabric. This reduces strain and extends the service life of the screening hoses accordingly.
